(33,179 posts)we are under a Winter Storm Watch from Saturday afternoon until Monday afternoon. Very high chance of wintry mix of snow and ice. Hard to tell how much of what we might get at this point. There are a lot of trees in the area which means if we get much ice there will be lots of power outages.
Then, this morning, I was looking at the forecast for the next 10 days and up on my phone comes another major winter storm predicting heavy snow the following weekend! Yikes! It's not forecast to get out of the 30's for highs for the next 10 days, which means any accumulation of snow/ice we do get this weekend will be unlikely to melt much during next week.
I grocery shopped Monday. Bought candles, batteries, a reading light that works on alkaline batteries, and a phone charger that works on batteries. I have a gas cook top. Have a fireplace guy coming today to check out my gas fireplace and make sure it will work to light from the battery pack if the power goes out. Going to do laundry tomorrow and run the dishwasher Saturday morning before the storm starts. Hope that all my preparation will mean the power doesn't go out. It does come into my neighborhood underground, but ice accumulation anywhere along the lines above ground bringing power to the neighborhood makes them susceptible to even a half inch of ice.
Oh, and I also went to the library yesterday! I have plenty of books to read!
