Watching a Superpower Die By Suicide
January 22, 2026 at 12:00 pm EST By Taegan Goddard 0 Comments

Garrett Graff: “Across the first three weeks of 2026, and especially yesterday, President Trump’s Mad King rantings about Greenland have accelerated into something far more stunning and alarming: We are watching in real-time as a superpower dies by suicide — an all-but unprecedented choice to self-immolate and torch the country’s remaining global trust and friendships.”

“The entire world order we built across eighty years, a never-before-seen geopolitical success that has been tended and fostered by Republican and Democratic administrations across a dozen presidencies, has been sacrificed this week on the altar of Donald Trump’s legacy-mad narcissism.”

we, like the grasshoppers that turn to destructive locusts when too stressed, are now somehow psychologically driven to “thin the herd”…even if it means our own personal destruction.

that’s my take anyway.

Justice matters.

... in leaving Putin's psychotic desire to destroy American from within out of any discussions regarding Trump's own psychoses? The vengeful motivations of the Orange Hellbeast dovetail neatly with Putin's interests, and by now, there can be no doubt that Trump is a Russian asset, and has been for decades. The proof of his perfidy is so obvious that it's ridiculous, but those with the power to address Trump's treason have been in on it from the git-go and have failed to lift a finger to rein him in on too many occasions for it to be ignored.
The July 4th, 2018 visit to the Kremlin by a delegation of Republican politicians was ostensibly to warn the Russians against any election meddling. Yeah. Right. I wouldn't believe a Republican any more than I would believe Putin himself. And I wouldn't trust any of 'em any further than I could throw my truck.

Anti-social and psychotic tendencies just made trump a better tool.

Plenty of other people around the world and especially in the US are happy to get in on the looting.

A lot of GOP people think THIS is how America should’ve always been acting. The whole speak softly and carry a big stick is overrated. The Trump era mantra is “shout at everyone and let them know you’re carrying the biggest stick”. It really is sad to see

The greater culpability of others offers grim satisfaction but no movement toward stopping the destruction and building a sustainable and more just society to replace that which has failed.

That they wouldn't accept anything but the fucking asshole in charge, no matter how terrible of a job he was doing, and god forbid the "other guy" actually does something good for the country. Well guess what? It's a classic cause and effect situation - you vote for garbage, and you get garbage back in return. Elections have far, far greater consequences than which side gets "owned" on social media.

9/11, Katrina, endless war, turning against COVID mandates, gerrymandering, the border "crisis" - all of this shit was the end product of the "we report, you decide" network. And hell even RT (the Russian state TV network) admitted that they copied Fox News' business model, and so did Hungarian state TV. So Fox's bullshit is spreading to other countries.

Fuck Rupert Murdoch - no circle of hell is good enough for that monster.

Trump is serving TWO masters........2025 AND Putin.......

Much of what Trump does must be off a list Putin gives him daily, as well as the list that 2025/Stephen Miller gives him daily.

Both of his masters must be walking around with smiles on their faces, and 24/7 erections....

It's been brewing since reagan with a few key ingredients.
-Give more power to the powerful and greedy
-CULTivate devotion to the powerful and greedy
-Take away gains progressives won for the middle class and traditionally disenfranchised
-Disinvest from science and education
-Prioritize white supremacy

It's the kind of stuff that makes an underdeveloped country underdeveloped.
