For me temps dropping to single digits to about- 10 tomorrow through Sunday, chill factors up to -30. Some light snow, then 6-9" Sunday with heavy drifting.
I went to the store today, lots of crowds. I'm well stored and not planning to go anywhere until next week. If you do drive have plenty of gas.
Take care and stay safe!

(17,747 posts)We're supposed to get a ton of rain in the next few days and then it's supposed to dip down into the upper 20s next week. I just hope we don't get ice. That makes for some treacherous conditions.

Our weatherman just said we have 60 hours below zero. That's brutal. I'm always a bit scared that the furnace will go out (it's happened before) or we lose power. But even if we do, the power company and the heating companies here are amazingly competent.
We're putting out a ton of bird seed and peanuts for the birds, apples and carrots for the bunnies too.

(60,791 posts)an actual temp and the wind chill was close to -70, I'm not panicking.
I feel very sorry for anyone who has to be out in dangerous temps, though. Hope they can stay safe. Ditto those who will be getting a lot of ice. The two worst accidental injuries I've had, both resulting in pain for years, were from ice (one a car accident, the other a fall on black ice), and two of my siblings were seriously injured in car accidents caused by ice.

(12,441 posts)Over the weekend we're suppose to slip into the teens and single digits with snow forecasts all over the place. I've managed to handle the past snow this season, anywhere from an inch to maybe 4 inches. But I can't shovel a foot+ of snow without crippling myself. My husband is very unbalanced with weak knees and ankles, so I signed on with a local guy willing to come with his snowblower and plow to clear the front of the house. I managed to get the last bit of salt available for my back steps so I can get the dogs out. My little guy, Benny, no longer does steps on his own, so I need to carry him up and down. Salt is essential to both our lives!!
Maybe it won't be as bad as they're predicting. These dire Snow-apocalypse warnings often turn into duds. But just in case, we're good on food and basic staples.
Stay safe everyone1

(1,265 posts)I've seen snow forecasts from 3" to 14". It changes more often than daily. I went to the grocery store today for an item that I really didn't need but which was on sale. It was absolutely packed at about 1 pm. I bet it was worse when people got off work.
Not looking forward to all the shoveling that lies ahead. That 3" forecast is old. Nothing close to that little has been posted in a couple of days. And then, once I get the driveway clear, the plow will come and clog it back up again. Oh well. I guess it'll build character or something.
But I've got food on hand and I am warm. And the forecast is for snow rather than ice. I'll be content with that. Could be worse. I remember many years ago when we got a good 4" or so of ice. They chopped it into blocks and fork trucks stacked them on the corners. That was one for the books {shudder}.

(5,381 posts)A foot+ of snow expected Sunday into Monday. Southern Vermont.
Whats weird is cold weather up here doesnt feel the same as it does in Virginia. 10 degrees here feels like a Northern Virginia 30 degrees. Must be the difference in humidity.

(8,435 posts)Not quite as windy but still very cold, chill factor tomorrow -20. It's likely not be above 20 until next week.
