Was a colossal mistake. Along with the PATRIOT act they were both created in the post 9/11 fervor.

It’s incredible. You ask the right about gun control, and they’ll say “oh there are plenty of laws already on the books”. You get 9/11 and they scramble to devise the most egregious piece of shit legislation they could come up with that basically created a surveillance state with the intention of primarily restricting civil liberties.
