Holy crap. Could it be? COULD IT BE??

OK, I just had an Aha! Moment. I’m flipping through my cable channels, you know, the premium ones that bring my cable bill to $325.00 a month, and I see a 2020 movie on HBO and think “Hey! They just released a sequel to this film starring Gerard Butler”.

In the film, a comet breaks up into many meteorites, some of them huge, and certain selected people are evacuated in advance to a far-off outpost where they enter a bunker for nine months (!) while the planet is bombarded and then begins to recover. It represents the end of humanity and civilization as we know it and rebirth.

The name of the film is Greenland. The sequel is Greenland 2.

If he has been made aware of his mortality, perhaps he has entered a mindset wherein this film represents his only chance of survival, albeit allegorical. The mental health implications are stark. Who knows how his mind works? Not I.

Just a thought. We know that films are often presented at the White House prior to general release. Or perhaps he saw or heard of the original. And for those of you who may not believe that he watches movies, he has to do something after he takes three or four minutes to bang whomever and then get to posting on Untruth Social.

I mean, where the fuck did he come up with Greenland? It’s not like he knows anything about geography or world affairs. Even if he was given this idea, it has become an obsession. Life is never as simple as we think it is.

1. "Could it be?"

When I read that title, I thought it might be happening. You know what I'm talking about. It. Ya know, it could happen any time, to any one of us.

I agree with the psychological hypothesis that he is being confronted with his inevitable death - that is why he started talking about heaven and not getting in and stuff. On the other hand, he has always been this way. Why Greenland? It looks big on a map.

Regarding "it" -- I was discussing with a like minded friend how I will celebrate when I receive notification of when "it" happens. We both agreed that we'd want to be woken up to hear the news. I wonder if there is a market for a concierge news service that'll notify people when "it" happens.

2. Certainly possible. One of his notorious false border anecdotes was lifted directly from the Sicario sequel.

A hell of a lot of RW anecdotes, talking points, and conspiracy theories come from pop culture fiction not reality.

3. Trump first said he wanted to buy Greenland in August 2019. The first Greenland film was released in December 2020.

https://www.euronews.com/2026/01/05/greenland-prime-minister-says-enough-after-latest-trump-threat

Trump first proposed purchasing Greenland during his first term in August 2019. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen called the idea "an absurd discussion" at the time and said "Greenland is not for sale".

Trump cancelled his scheduled state visit to Denmark on 20 August 2019, writing that Frederiksen had "no interest in discussing the purchase of Greenland" and that she "was able to save a great deal of expense and effort for both the United States and Denmark by being so direct".

He says a lot of shit all the time. As has been pointed out, there’s a tweet for any situation from him.

Just saying…

he canceled a state visit to.Denmark because they wouldn't discuss selling Greenland. That was in August 2019. It wasn't an idle tweet.

But it's possible the film added a bit to his interest in Greenland.

It's also VERY likely that the tech bros allied with Trump wanting Greenland has added to his interest in it now. I've posted about that here.

on long term access to to various resources. Oil, water, rare earth metals, etc. Western Canada has 20% of the world’s fresh water in rivers, Venezuela has the world’s largest oil reserves (and I believe also RE minerals), and Greenland has RE minerals, ocean fisheries, and potential access to arctic resources. These discussions come up in briefings and Donny thinks “Greenland, nobody cares about Greenland, I’ll grab it and everyone will think I’m a genius!”

But these guys want frigging everything. This Moran risked everything for Greenland until somebody had a talk with him. And then…he caved, as usual.

12. Trump couldn't "bang" anyone at this point, not even with someone else's very small 'hammer'---
Fri Jan 23, 2026, 08:39 PM
Jan 23

and NO, he doesn't have the attention span to 'watch a movie' now either---
although he could view scenes from it----
before he changed channels back to FAUX NEWS,
or another channel further to the right--- since FAUX has disappointed him so often--

I think the best idea is that he be encouraged to JOIN that next planned 'moon shot'
in what some consider to be a 'flawed spacecraft'---

"HEY, NO PRESIDENT HAS EVER DONE IT BEFORE!" we should all tell him---

and that the aliens from the bases on the dark side of the moon
(as allegedly reported by some of the original moon astronauts)
will take that opportunity to 'SOLVE' our biggest problem FOR US!

Afterwards, Hollywood can make a movie about it, called
"Independence Day, Part Two" (non-fictional)!

'We have ceased to receive communications from the presidential spacecraft....
the matter continues to be under investigation'....

13. Saw it recently. Not a great movie. It's likely I will not watch the sequel.

Still, not a bad movie. I give it 3 stars out of 5.

I think Greenland has been a dream of deluded American imperialists for decades. Not a new Trump idea.

15. I'm convinced this is Stephen Miller whispering into Agent Orange's ear
Sat Jan 24, 2026, 11:51 AM
Jan 24

Miller is full-steam ahead on Project 2025's objectives and the technocratic 'Spheres of Influence' idea that the world should be carved up for the United States, China and Russia. Miller was gleefully declaring that no country would defend Greenland by going against the US military, that we, the United States are entitled to the country because of its proximity and because Denmark had no genuine claim.

It's all bogus BS being pushed by billionaires like Peter Thiel and his AI cronies. They have more money than God and now they think of themselves as gods, superior in every way and entitled to EVERYTHING.

As for Miller? He's a viper, a man who gets off on cruelty and vicious lies.

These are broken, soulless people.
