After ICE's SECOND MURDER of an INNOCENT American in the Minneapolis-St.Paul area, I just want to say how impressed I am by the people of Minnesota, including Governor Tim Walz and other state and local leaders at this horrible scary time.
My hat is off
to all of the people who have been peacefully protesting, blowing whistles, and in particular, filming the atrocious behavior of ICE to create an accurate record of what's going on in the Twin Cities right now. As the secretary of DHS and all the other despicable criminals who staff the administration of the most evil, criminal, psychopathic president in our nation's history continue to make up and spread lies and slander the character of INNOCENT people who can't speak for themselves because they've been murdered in cold blood, these heroic videographers are creating the evidence that will ultimately set the historic record straight. They're out there right now, in below zero weather that would keep my elderly ass inside (almost) no matter what was going on, and I just want to say the following:
Minnesotans, you rock! I see you, I respect you, and I stand with you.
You are fighting the good fight for all Americans, and we will all be forever in your debt. Stay strong, and keep on taking care of yourselves and each other as you have shown you're so very good at doing.

(49 posts)I was born in Minneapolis in 1950. We lived in one of those little suburbs to the West before moving back East to my father's home town. As a child we often traveled back to visit many friends and shop at the Southdale Mall. I often traveled there for training over the years and my big brother lived there until his passing last year. I've always had a soft spot for Minneapolis-St. Paul. Or as my father always called it: Minni-HaHa. Minni for Minneapolis and HaHa for St. Paul
They are all gone now and I feel lost. Like I woke up in an alternate universe and the country I've loved (warts and all) is gone and now we are the evil empire. I used to fly the flag on every suitable holiday but stopped when "he" got elected the first time. Swore I'd not fly one again until he was gone. I have a 48star flag that was for a relative who died in 1943. I think I will fly that one.
Thank for letting me vent.

(6,413 posts)Hail Minnesota
Minnesota, hail to thee!
Hail to thee, our state so dear,
Thy light shall ever be
A beacon bright and clear.
Thy son and daughters true
Will proclaim thee near and far,
They shall guard thy fame and adore thy name;
Thou shalt be their Northern Star.
Like the stream that bends to sea,
Like the pine that seeks the blue;
Minnesota, still for thee
Thy sons are strong and true.
From the woods and waters fair;
From the prairies waving far,
At thy call they throng with their shout and song;
Hailing thee their Northern Star.

(5,209 posts)There was a man in the reporting on MSNOW today - he was so angry and upset and on the verge of tears. He was ranting and expressing his feelings. He is seventy years old. I felt he is emblematic of ALL of us, not just Minnesota.

(410 posts)last night I found myself looking at condos in downtown Minneapolis and was amazed by the comparatively low prices. Seems like a pretty cool place to live based on what I am seeing these past few weeks. Good people. Strong Democratic state.
