Confiscate, knock out of hands, destroy. So be sure to upload to the cloud as you record.

(130,990 posts)and buy a burner. Your phone has too much important and valuable information to risk having it seized. If you have to bring it, disable the biometrics (face/fingerprint ID) and set it to airplane mode.

(41,042 posts)Every other week or so I record an outing just so I remember how to use it.
on edit: If you're gonna get a burner phone, there's a section in this article that's worth the read. If you want your burner phone so it's not trackable to you, there are ways to buy & activate it so it's harder to trace it to you.

(43,314 posts)Confiscating a protestor's phone is generally considered a 4th Amendment violation. It constitutes an "unreasonable search and seizure," as cell phones contain immense personal data and are not typically subject to warrantless searches, even upon arrest. Police must usually have a warrant or specific, probable cause, rather than just using it to deter recording or fishing for information.
Key points regarding the seizure of protestor phones:
Privacy Rights: The Supreme Court has ruled that cell phones are distinct from other personal items, meaning they cannot be casually searched without a warrant, even incident to an arrest.

(43,314 posts)require a whole new look at DHS budgets when ICE behavior causes so much collateral damage to American citizens in the name of "immigration enforcement." What ICE is doing points to, as massive digital evidence will show, a DHS endorsed invasion of MN and Minneapolis by its enforcement arm. Noem should be impeached and tried in the Senate, and ICE heads of the MN attacks arrested and arraigned at state level under the aegis of the Attorney General, Keith Ellison.
