People are talking about moving the World Cup, but we have a better opportunity

Boycott the Super Bowl

Start a campaign to have people not watch the game, make it the least watched Super Bowl in history.
Boycott advertisers who will not speak out in favor of the people in opposition to authoritarian government policies.
Have the fans press the teams that if they choose to play, they should make a symbolic on field gesture, such as taking a knee or simply standing in silence for a minute to delay the kickoff.

It is more immediate and the Super Bowl matters far more to Americans than a soccer tournament.

legitimate entity or organization starts promoting this, I'll commit. It really is the least I can do. What is a game in comparison?

PS - not sure it's a better idea so much as another, equally good idea.

and have followed them from a distance ever since. I used to get on short wave radio to listen to their games in the middle of the night when I lived overseas in the late 70s.

It would definitely be a sacrifice for me. This team reminds me of the 2002 team. I’m very excited, but if a boycott was effectively organized, I would do it. I’ve seen them win 6 SuperBowls already. Missing one live won’t kill me — and there will never be another one ss exciting as their first one anyway.

if I haven't watched a Superbowl in 60 years?

(I have no interest in sports whatsoever, and the only reason I watched THAT one was because I knew one of the players)

If they refused to play until ICE was out of MN, ICE would be out of MN in 10 seconds

Who in their right mind would simply want to come to the world cup in the US? Maybe if they already have the tickets and have other events planned would be the reason.
But the biggest ticket sales would be from the advertising sponsors of the World Cup. Those sponsors should bail as well.
I do hope it is moved elsewhere.
I feel a big flop coming from the international community interested in a US vacation combined with the World Cup.

The Super Bowl? that one is probably harder to convince the audience and fans to not watch. Sports is such a great relief to watch after the orange s___stains constant fiascos.

Already cost players careers and in the end didn’t do much. That was already used. I also don’t think anyone will walk away from $15,000 tickets. They are already bought and paid for.

Boycotts can work of sports but the planning needs to be far out ahead of the event.
