1. Furlough every DHS and ICE personnel that was hired since 2025.
2. Create Commission to perform/review background checks on all other DHS/ICE employees. Commission to be independent and chaired by an ex Dem Gov or Senator. Anyone failing review is immediately fired.
3. Once all review of historical employees is completed then furloughed employees background checks can be started. Any person with a felony conviction or any history of domestic violence will be terminated.
4. All DHS/ICE agents MUST wear body cams and turn them on prior to any interaction. Failure to do so results in immediate termination.
5. Immediate termination of Noem and Bovino and replacements must be reviewed and approved by aforementioned Commission.
6. Replacements will be able to terminate up to 10% of staff over 180 days to weed out bad actors.

Now many, including DU Members will say it goes to far.

And that is a HUGE mistake. This is exactly how Republicans negotiate while Dems put forth common sense solutions. Then Republicans chip away and weaken solutions. Dems then concede in the interest of bipartisanship. It must stop immediately. Create a large list of demands and then give up some.

What people either aren't old enough to remember or have forgotten is how out of control CIA was prior and during Vietnam, followed by the enormous backlash in the 70's. Hughes Ryan Amendment. Church / Pike Committee. Creation of the Senate Select Committee on Intel. FISA. And on and on. And CIA wasn't anywhere near as unpopular with the populace as the whole HSA monstrosity is today. The backlash will be huuuuge. Huuuge.

I would say with an exception of the few that have good training and actually use deescalation techniques (whoever they may be) that go after actual serious criminals.

… Pretti’s killer has been identified - but I’ve been at work today.

But as I said, many of these clowns don’t lack training. They lack souls.

What the law says they can do, which for these groups is very limited, not what a costume-wearing ass-kissing political flunky says they can do.
