Getting a games is a matter of massive bribes and gifts and THEN massive debt to build the facilities required by the IOC.

FIFA does control everything. Any soccer you see is FIFA produced and owned.

The US has mostly avoided (as far as I’ve seen) having to build a lot of facilities for the World Cup and 2028 LA Games because we already have sports leagues that bilk localities and states for stadiums. I don’t know about the housing required for the Olympic Games in LA. Hopefully those become low income housing but we’ll see.

We almost won the Olympics coming to Colorado.......We had an incredible democratic Governor...Richard Lamm
He single handedly destroyed the Olympics coming to Colorado, by exposing the graft and corruption on the part of the olympic committee that was already taking place with just being in the running........Including the fortune that it would cost Colorado taxpayers, the incredible environmental destruction, etc etc. The best was that he was a summer AND winter mountaineer, so he knew the mountains of Colorado well. He did 14ers in the Winter, just for fun....
He showed the public the exact proposed mountain and slope, (shown in a picture by the olympic committee) that would be the only Colorado mountain that could satisfy the required length and steepness for the Grand Slalom. He knew the mountain well, and the slope was so steep it couldn't hold snow, and so the Olympic committee air brushed snow on to their picture. LOL
He also showed where the average Coloradan taxpayer, (who would foot the entire bill for the Colorado Olympics), wouldn't be able to afford even one of the tickets to attend one event....

Richard Lamm was a true visionary, may he RIP........

There are a ton of pictures on the internet of Olympic sights from the past. They show what they look like presently, and many are just incredibly expensive ruins that have all been abandoned.......

Of course Trump and Republicans would look at having the olympics.... as an awesome way to grift money, and paid for at the taxpayers expense........
