The Democrat won this special election in Minnesota yesterday by a vote of 95.3% to 4.4%.

Democrats have won two special elections for the Minnesota House of Representatives as the state reels from President Donald Trump's immigration crackdown.

Meg Luger-Nikolai, an attorney, won House District 64A on Tuesday with more than 95 percent of the vote, according to The Associated Press. Her Republican opponent Dan Walsh secured around 4.4 percent.

Meanwhile, Shelley Buck, a former president of the Prairie Island Indian Community's Tribal Council, won an election for House District 47A with 97.6 percent of the vote. Buck ran uncontested in her election.

The Democratic wins mean the Minnesota House of Representatives is restored to an even partisan split. The parties will now operate under a former power-sharing agreement.

the Dem candidate won that Minnesota House seat with 83% of the vote. So a Dem winning the district by a large margin is no surprise, but it’s nice to see her winning by an even larger margin.

....not an abstraction, it represents more support.

It's been a pattern for Democrats.

I think we'll see even larger gains in state and local elections.

and Democrats in this state are known for not showing up for special elections. I don't think it's a surprise she won in this district, but the margin is a surprise and tells me Democrats are motivated and Republicans are not.

Senate District 64 in in the southwest corner of St. Paul. House District 64A is the district the new mayor of St. Paul represented.

This was already a deep blue district, but to win a contested election with 95+% of the vote is pretty astounding. Even in deep blue areas, there are plenty of Rs/Ind. This vote indicates either the Rs/Inds stayed home or they voted D.

The other seat which Ds won was uncontested and that candidate got 97% of the vote.

Dan is running because he believes St. Paul families deserve a representative who will fight for accountability on the massive fraud, lower taxes, safer neighborhoods, better schools, and real accountability at the Capitol — not more empty promises.
