Republican clubs buying out theaters for Melania documentary..cant give the tickets away

https://www.showbiz411.com/2026/01/25/melania-movie-spurs-republican-club-buyouts-of-theaters-in-red-areas-bakersfield-california-gop-group-cant-even-give-them-away

Sales are sparse, to say the least.

So the Republican party has been buying out showings in red areas where they think they can attract crowds.

One screening party is set for January 31st in Bakersfield, California. The local Republican Party is making a night of it for the 7:30pm show, offering free tickets to members and $10 ducats to non members.

So far they’ve managed to reserve just 14 seats. Otherwise, two of the other four shows that day are totally unsold. The 1pm show has six tickets sold.

I looked on the Regal Theaters website and several showings were almost booked completely while others had only sold two or three seats. I barely go to one movie a year since the pandemic started and when I go I look for a showing with less than five people in the audience. So I'm a bit familiar with the patterns of how many seats are sold and when.
It seemed very odd to have almost sold out showings flanked by almost empty showings. Also the almost sold out showings are several days away. Another thing, the theater is showing this movie on at least three of their screens. For a movie which is only filling an average of three seats, not counting the artificial demand of the bulk sales, it seems odd to place it on so many screens. But this is a very red area, maybe they just want to kiss up to the local Republicans.

Most of the wealth of the 1% has been stolen from the workers over the last half century. I.e. productivity has steadily increased while the share of total wealth owned by the working class has dropped.

Albeit college students are quite adept at turning the utterly ridiculous into a fun exercise in group response. Maybe they will invite everyone to dress up like Melania (or Trump... LOL )
