Greenland 🇬🇱 is the only country in the Americas where the indigenous language is the main official language, with the indigenous population accounting for a majority of inhabitants. Here is Macron posting in Kalaallisut, as the Greenlandic language is known.

You seem intent on imposing your will on Greenlanders and have been vocal about doing so on DU before now. How presumptious.

Do some research and find out what their polling says about their wishes in terms of their relationship with Denmark.

Cut to the chase: consistently growing majorities over the years would like to be independent, but - here's the catch - NOT if it means a reduction in their standard of living.

Squaring that circle takes time, which is why most of the debate within Greenland is about the TIMING of any move to independence, and why those who want it to happen NOW are a definite minority.

I'm not - and nobody else but the Greenlanders is as far as I know - asking "the indigenous peoples of Greenland to bide their time regarding land that was literally stolen from them", and it's telling that you want to warp the reasoning in such an absurd and self-serving way. I'm saying that what they want matters more than your opinion or anyone else's.

Do the research. Or do I have to do it for you? Find out what opinions Greenlanders themselves have expressed when polled time after time.

You'll find they have been as I represented in my reply above.

I am not one of them. Happy to hear you also oppose colonialism, land theft and injustice against the indigenous!
