Anything less is compromise and we are done doing that with the GOP, or so I thought. But I guess old school still wins out.
Too bad. Major disappointment.

(4,945 posts)It culled DHS from the herd, and therefore less distractions. Ball is in the Dem's court.

(15,163 posts)My take is the Ds finally got enough votes together - in concert with a very slim number of, (for once!, and oh so rare!) disaffected Rs - to actually have some ability to effect ... And they used it - with some deftness - to what advantage they judged could be wrought.
There obviously some different opinions out there - but I think I would tag this as a fairly rare win - and in so doing, pretty decent bit of statecraft on the part of Senate Democrats.

(10,237 posts)Sadly, ICE won't be going anywhere and neither will Noem unless Trump tires of her the way he did Bovino.
Instead of blaming Democrats for something completely out of their control, this should be a teaching moment for why Republicans should never be given control of our government again. Even though you think people would have already learned this after the first Trump administration...

(2,636 posts)I'm not sure why some social media influencers are attempting to put a negative spin against Democrats on this, but the con was the one who folded and the one who lost this negotiation, not Schumer and the Democrats.
It's one thing to hold a ridiculous grudge over a lack of an endorsement for a NYC Mayor, but it's a whole other to wrongfully blame Democrats. Any social media influencer pushing this erroneous spin seems to be doing so for the benefit of the con and MAGA as far as I'm concerned.
