The government is acknowledging graphic evidence exists and chose to withhold it, while redacting names tied to Jeffrey Epstein and his powerful associates, including Donald Trump.

(7,729 posts)were the oligarchs names and trumps (and they didn't do a great job at that, either). These people, throughout this administration, had to have all been in the remedial classes at their schools. They not only never matured emotionally, they were among the lowest IQs in the room!

(3,549 posts)Statute of limitations, in most cases, is 5 years. Murder (no SoL) is the only exception Im aware of.
There is one way that I know the SoL can be reset and it can even be paused, but Im pretty sure it doesnt apply here. And, even if it did, youd have to have a prosecutor willing to take the case to a Grand Jury AND the victims be willing to testify. For most of them, I wouldnt hold my breath counting on it. And given their trauma, plus the certainty of death threats from the MAGAts, who can blame any of the victims for taking a pass?

(1,679 posts)In Florida there's no statute of limitations for sex crimes against minors committed after July 1, 2020. So any victims of that crime by Epstein or associates in Florida wouldn't benefit. The article doesn't say what the previous limitations were.

(9,779 posts)Then there would be no reason to further investigate any claims and the DOJ would have zero justification for holding back any files.
Sexual abuse statutes of limitations vary from state to state, though in many states, the statutes of limitation have been eliminated if the victim was 16 or younger. Regardless of possible criminal charges, I believe victims could still file civil charges in most states. That wouldn't put the perpetrators in jail, but it could cost them tons of money and basically destroy them.

(7,729 posts)They wouldn't want to sully their donors reputations by showing these people killed little girls during and after sex, right? Damn! Could there be anything worse representing the U.S. I do hope these people understand there IS a reckoning coming for them, at some point. And the only thing they can hope for is to die before it gets to them.

(9,779 posts)document, picture, video, etc. that they fail to release. An example of what the law requires is that the DOJ would have to explicitly say they can't release Video A because it shows Epstein physically abusing a minor, or video B because it shows him injuring a minor. The law also only prohibits those items from being released publicly, it doesn't prevent them from being released to Congress.
The generic statement from Blanche ain't remotely close to sufficient.

(1,968 posts)May have been a scam but was claiming to include clips from Epstein's cameras that showed the two girls being strangled during rough 'play' and buried in the hills near the ranch.
No details from the FBI if they ever followed up.
Virginia Roberts was beaten so bad she was taken to he hospital according to her book so would not be out of the realm of possibility.
