Don't believe the "I will keep the steel" story

Trump plans to close the Kennedy Center, tear it down and rebuild it. The last I checked the Kennedy Center doesn't need to be torn down, but Trump's going to do it anyway.

Today he claimed that he won't tear it all the way down; he plans to keep the steel framework and some of the marble.

In 1979, Donald Trump bought the bankrupt Bonwit Teller's flagship department store because he needed the land to construct Trump Tower. The Metropolitan Museum of Art asked him for the art deco friezes on the face of the building; after promising them to the museum he ordered them all destroyed with jackhammers.

If you don't think this asshole will do the same thing to the Kennedy Center, think again. And I assure you, when the new building is constructed, assuming it ever is, it will be named the Trump Center for the Performing Arts.

This creep's insanity and dementia will someday be an accepted fact just as George III's was. The insane 42nd president slapped gold painted doodads and his name on everything in the weeks and months before his death. He built a victory arch for himself and destroyed part of the White House and the Kennedy Center. His insanity was clear to all, yet Congress people of his party acquiesced to even the most extreme manifestations of his mental illness. After he exited the stage, they all claimed they knew nothing of this. If anything, they did their utmost to maintain the undemocratic status quo he established. However, most either retired from public life or were driven from office.

Yes, I can see that didn’t stop him destroying the East Wing. I notice however that lately it seems he’s being slow-walked on just about everything while at the same time his attention span becomes continually shorter and less focused.

I would sure as hell hope by now that protections are being developed and fortified to protect not just The People’s House but the rest of the people’s monuments and public property, spaces and institutions as well.
