the kidnappers?

Wasn't the ransom note available sooner?

The Mother was in need in life saving meds.

I don't know how dire that situation is - but they lost time by not reacting sooner.

It's now going to take additional time to work out any additional negotiations.

Possible loss of more time. I don't know that the family is getting good advice in handling this.
