Trump makes startling admission about his 'big ego' at National Prayer Breakfast

President Donald Trump said at the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday that he needed to win a second term because he was still burning with resentment over not getting one in 2020 — bragging about his "big ego" while continuing to push conspiracy theories about his prior election loss.

"They rigged the second election," said Trump. "I had to win it. I had to win it. I needed it for my own ego. I would've had a bad ego for the rest of my life. Now I really have a big ego. Beating these lunatics was incredible, what a great feeling. Winning every swing state. Winning the popular vote. The first time they said I didn't win the popular vote. I did."

He then went on to complain about how many articles would qualify his 2016 win with, "While Donald Trump did not win the popular vote..." which is indeed a factual statement.

A Democratic congressman shamed President Donald Trump during a prayer from just feet away.

Rep. Jonathan Jackson (D-IL) spoke Thursday morning at the bipartisan National Prayer Breakfast, where he cited scripture in his intercession asking God to open the 79-year-old president's heart to greater compassion and to follow Christ's teachings, as Trump stood by shifting his weight from foot to foot behind him.

"We also be reminded that we ask for the word of God, our good and gracious God, we pray for the health and deliberations of the president of the United States," Jackson said, "and we pray that you would be the final arbiter of whatever decisions he endeavors to make, that you would increase the stature of his wisdom, because without you, none of us can adjudicate the overwhelming details of leadership and life today we pray for America and we pray for all parliamentarians around the world."

"The Book of Timothy teaches us that you have been entrusted with leadership today we pray for the future of this nation and that you would leave this president into greater levels of compassion for your namesake," Jackson continued. As you can imagine, there wasn’t much talk of faith from the alleged pedophile president during his address to the National Prayer Breakfast. Instead, he focused on the only thing he actually cares about — his own ego, and how mad he is that he lost the 2020 election to Joe Biden.

Slurring his words and dipping in and out of coherency, the president babbled about how “I said, you know, it's a really smart guy if I ever get this thing, I didn't get it. It wasn't easy. You know, they rigged the second election.

As is true in so many areas of public life, things now are … different. The Boston Globe reported:

President Trump attacked Republican Representative Thomas Massie of Kentucky, an outspoken critic of the president, during his speech at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington on Thursday, calling him a ‘moron.’ […]

Trump then attacked Democrats in his speech saying, ‘I don’t know how a person of faith can vote for a Democrat. I really don’t.’ Later, Trump repeated his false claims that he won the popular vote in 2016 and that his 2020 loss to former president Joe Biden was ‘rigged.’

Over the course of roughly 75 minutes, the Republican turned the National Prayer Breakfast into a roast of sorts, lashing out at enemies, condemning immigrants, peddling absurd election conspiracy theories, expressing annoyance that House Speaker Mike Johnson wants to pray before meals, lying about the repeal of the Johnson Amendment (which still has not actually happened, no matter how many times Trump claims otherwise) — all while complaining about transgender people and diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.

The president even took the opportunity to boast about the efficacy of the deadly military operations he’d ordered.

At another point, Trump decided it’d be a good idea to mock Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey over the Democrat’s recent emphasis on honoring the Constitution.

Every speech, interview and appearance, public or private, is rooted in the same conspiratorial and grievance-filled foundation. The president was an embarrassment to himself on Thursday, not because he tried and failed to honor the occasion and to respect his audience, but because it apparently never occurred to him to bother in the first place.
