A SCOTUS justice retiring while we have a Republican president and a Republican majority in Congress is not something to look forward to.A right-wing Supreme Court justice's new book fueled speculation Friday that he is preparing to "disrobe."
Justice Samuel Alito's new book, "So Ordered: An Originalist's View of the Constitution, the Court, and the Country," hits shelves in October, just a day after the Supreme Court's term officially kicks off on Oct. 5.
The timing sparked speculation for former litigator Elie Mystal, who questioned in The Nation why a sitting justice would release a book during the court's busiest season.
"Thats a curious date," he noted, calling the date a "giant tell."
Mystal added: "It sure feels like Alito doesnt plan on having a real job the Tuesday his book launches and instead thinks hell be free to run around the country promoting it."

At worst it would be a wash. Nobody could be worse than Alito.

(22,223 posts)5. Do you remember when he got the nickname "Scalito?"
Republicans saw great promise in him as the man who would continue the great work of Antonin Scalia.
Cannon would do what she was told to do, 100% of the time. I assume John Roberts would find that to be very appealing.

(11,498 posts)7. Scalia was an anti-Liberalism, lunatic asshole.
But at least his lunacy was logically consistent over time, and with itself. .
Alito cares about 'the movement' above all else, and doesn't give half a fuck about the reasoning is inconsistent between decisions that empower that movements end.
