"John Mellencamps career in music, spanning more than 35 years, is one of the most highly respected singer/songwriters of a generation. Mellencamp is incredibly acclaimed; he is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a recipient of the John Steinbeck Award, ASCAP Foundations Champion Award, The Woody Guthrie Award and Americana Music Associations Lifetime Achievement Award and more recently, the Founders Award, the top honor assigned by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers and a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame. His career has lasted over 50 years. I saw him one time at a Bob Dylan concert. It was him, Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan. Mellencamp put on one hell of a show.

Hell, they tried to steal his stage name so he just outsmarted them lol.
