NJ-02: Alexander (D) endorsed by Atlantic Dem vice chairwoman
Hamilton Township Committeewoman Thelma Witherspoon, the vice chairwoman of the Atlantic County Democratic Committee, endorsed civil rights attorney Tim Alexander today in the contested Democratic primary for New Jerseys 2nd congressional district.
Witherspoon, who was nearly elected as a county commissioner in 2020 before a county clerk error nullified her victory, joins Atlantic Democratic Chair Michael Suleiman in backing Alexander, who previously ran against Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-Dennis) in 2022 and 2024. One of Alexanders Democratic opponents, Bayly Winder, has received a number of Atlantic endorsements of his own ahead of the March 8 county convention.
I am endorsing Tim Alexander for Congress because his values and campaign are about building an equitable future where every family can thrive and prosper, Witherspoon said in a statement. Unlike other candidates, Tim has refused corporate PAC money because he understands that public service is about communities, not corporations.
Also backing Alexander today is LaDaena Londo, the mayor of the small Salem County borough of Penns Grove who won a dramatic write-in victory in 2023 to secure re-election.
