NJ-11: Mejia lead grows to 889 votes in special Dem primary

Analilia Mejia increased her lead in the special Democratic primary for Congress in New Jersey’s 11th district by ten votes and now leads former Rep. Tom Malinowski by an 889-vote margin in the race for Mikie Sherrill’s seat.

Mejia leads Malinowski, 18,584 to 17,695, 29.1% to 27.7%.

Essex added 839 new votes to the tally today. There were no additional vote tallies in the Morris and Passaic portions of the district.

Former Lt. Governor Tahesha Way is in third place with 17.4%, followed by Essex County Commissioner Brendan Gill (14.3%), Passaic County Commissioner John Bartlett (2.7%), Chatham Borough Councilman Justin Strickland (2.1%), Morris Township Committeeman Jeff Grayzel (1.9%), U.S. Army combat veteran Zach Beecher (1.9%), and former Obama White House staffer Cammie Croft (1%). Newcomer Anna Williams and Trump impersonator J-:L Cavin each received less than 1%, as did two candidates who dropped out of the race.
