On Monday, Sao Paulo’s Civil Police launched an operation to dismantle a child sexual exploitation network that had been operating for at least eight years.

Among those arrested were a 60-year-old pilot with LATAM Airlines, who was taken into custody inside an aircraft at Congonhas Airport, and a 55-year-old woman who allegedly received payments in exchange for handing over her granddaughters, ages 10, 12 and 14, to the pilot.

The pilot was identified as Sergio Antonio Lopes. He was detained by security agents while the aircraft was already prepared for departure to Rio de Janeiro.

The airline confirmed it was aware of the incident that occurred Monday during boarding procedures for Flight LA3900, in which one of its crew members was detained by police authorities.

3. I've wondered about the Epstein employees

and when they would be charged with crimes. Soon after Epstein was getting nailed there were news reports about his island, as well as a ton of other reports about Maxwell, etc.
There were a few people employed at that residence and they claimed they didn't see or know of anything criminal taking place.

Where does it say he worked for Epstein?

The word "related" could mean "akin" could it not?

...to Epstein other than the "RELATED:" heading that links to an article about the release of the Epstein files.

AFAICT the stories are only related by them both being about child sex trafficking, so I think your "akin" assessment is probably spot on.

The headline makes it sound like he was part of the Epstein ring which is not immediately borne out by the article.

An unnamed 55-year-old woman was also arrested, accused of soliciting her granddaughters to be abused - with the children aged eight, 10 and 14 when the alleged crimes took place.

At a press conference, police chief Ivalda Aleixo claimed Lopes “raped” children and that his alleged paedophile ring had been operational for at least eight years.

Ms Alexio said: “He had contact with some of the victims and he even took them to motels using adult IDs. He started abusing one of them when she was eight-years-old, and now she is 12, and another one of the victims has just turned 18. When he met these children, he would rape them.”
