This is Chris Murphy's framing for the shutdown, and all Dems should follow his lead

He said that DHS is being shut down because they refuse to follow the law.

Much preferable to Dems are refusing to fund DHS, which the corporate media is running with as they follow the R talking points.

Difference is, Murphy's explanation is true and emphasizes what is really happening. Dems are not asking for special favors. They are asking the DHS to follow established law and guidelines, such as search warrants and identification.

C'mon Dems, call them out for refusing to follow the law. Every time you are asked about the shutdown, say this. And yes, I am still miffed that the Dems could not get it together and follow Jeffries' lead when he called it the Big Ugly Bill. So simple, and yet some of them still called it by trump's propaganda term.

But yes, words matter lots and Senator Murphy is correct. ICE goes out daily and violates people’s rights

I remember seeing him on (then) MSNBC just a few weeks after the election. Most of the Dem party seemed shellshocked. But he was fiery, and even called out some in the party for not realizing the danger we were in. He is not just sticking his finger in the wind here.

He communicates well.

He delivers the message smartly and with truth. He's not a platitudinal BS politician.

but what I have been very impressed with is his ability to communicate without a lot of waffling and hedging. One of the biggest things for me in future politicians to support is whether they really want money out of politics . . . and Chris has been very very vocal about how important that is. His framing of the shut down is excellent.

and it is up to us to do that. Constantly defending against BS "narratives" is not nearly as effective. And since Dems actually ARE on the side of law and order here, why not lead with that?
