Ron Filipkowski: "Remember back in the day when congress used to be in charge of appropriations?"

Now, not so much. Trump just announced he is giving ten billion dollars of taxpayer money to his "board of peace".

Any chance Rs in congress will question this in any way? Our only hope is that Dems will raise holy hell.

Another reason to boycott the SOTU in my opinion. These are not normal times, people.

Dems will get criticized no matter what they do, but the worst scenario by far is for them to sit there while they are accused dishonestly of stealing elections and who knows what else. THAT makes them look weak. Now if they do boycott (not holding my breath) they need to be very clear about why they are doing so.

Boycotting seems like pretty weak tea to me. That has been our standard MO any time this wannabe Orban puffs himself up. We need something more like an alternative halftime show - how about Woodstock Reprise coinciding with the Shit of the Union speech?

I am talking about a total boycott. No Dems in attendance. That has never been done. As unions have shown us, unity is our only strength. The press will ignore it if it's only a few members. And by all means, there should be alternative SOU speech with all the Dems in attendance there.

They know what to do when their only strength is unity. You're right. It would be a powerful message.
