(1,567 posts)... he's the only Democrat that WVians would vote for, so as bad as he was, we were lucky to have him and his "D" (if not his votes) to bring us closer to having a majority. On the other hand, in PA... we can do better. The PAian voters are swing/purpleish... and other fine candidates are certainly electable.
I'm "thankful" that it was Fetterman over Oz... but it could have been, should have been Lamb instead. If Bernie had chosen to put his endorsement and election machinery behind a better candidate we would not be here talking about this today.
Fetterman definitely had Bernie fooled, and his endorsement really helped to bring out the "progressive vote" for a candidate who isn't as progressive as we were told he'd be.

I think when Fetterman had his stroke, his soul was pushed out and he is possessed by Joe Lieberman.

(5,046 posts)Even if the theorcratic Iranian regime falls, the chance of something better that lends itself to a more stable region is a very long shot. Our influence will not be welcome and likely animosity and tensions with neighboring countries will remain. Like our little adventure in Venezuela, you may change the people at the top, but very little else changes, just new chapter of Bad.

(5,046 posts)...for all the people smarter than Trump. This will delaminate in so many ways. As Robert McNamara said when LBJ directed him to expand the Vietnam War "...and loose the law of unanticipated consequences".
its hard to say if its cuz hes stupid or cuz hes compromised.

QueerDuck
(1,567 posts)... how was he able to fool them all. What did they see in him that I could not see? (Or, how could they not see what so many of us always suspected and disliked about him?) What made him a better choice over Conor Lamb during the primary? --- Big sigh.
Cha
(318,563 posts)on DU awhile ago that AOC apologized to him.. so maybe Connor Lamb will have some of that support if he runs in a couple of years.
QueerDuck
(1,567 posts)... gotten as far as he did without Bernie's endorsement. I guess he had Bernie fooled too. Bernie said that Fetterman would be a "real fighter for the working class" ... and without Bernies vocal support, its hard to imagine him surviving that primary or consolidating the base.
Now, Fetterman is openly mocking Bernie's positions on foreign policy and blasting "rot" in the party. Was Bernie just a "useful engine" for Fetterman to get elected, or did Fetterman genuinely change once he got to DC?
Since late 2023, Fetterman has distanced himself from the "progressive" label, specifically over his unconditional support for Israel, which directly conflicts with Bernies calls for aid conditions. I wonder how Bernie could have so seriously misjudged his character to the point where he was willing to put his own reputation on the line for Fetterman.
I was a big bait-and-switch, and I wonder if Fetterman would have even cleared the primary without Bernie's stamp of approval. Thoughts?

(318,563 posts)so long.. I took a catnap.
Yes I know about Sanders support.
I thought Connor Lamb would be an excellent Senator. and voiced my opinion on DU.. I was told.. what a wonderful progressive Dem that Fetterman was.
I was skeptical.. but Fetterman has gone way beyond any reservations I had about him.
... the dark side.
Thanks for those polls on his current status. I just bet he has a "warm embrace from fascists.. " why not? :
