Seriously, what's with the slurring, grinning and "I could care less" attitude?

I can't watch or listen to him but I've seen the quotes on bluesky and the analysis from those I trust, like Aaron Rupar. Apparently, he was slurring and smiling and said "that's just the way it is. There will likely be more" about American Soldiers dying.

Democrats need to be speaking out everywhere to anyone online, on cable news, on their own social media about this NOW. It's disgusting.

Just unbelievably callous and unfeeling, as well as patronizing. And that's even considering who this is and what he has done before. Even by his standards, I find it hard to believe that anyone could cheer this on.

23. Trump's agenda
Sun Mar 1, 2026, 09:09 PM
Mar 1

Trump is a psychopath. See checklist below.
Trump has an agenda. He does not care how many people die to serve that agenda.
Take agenda of tariffs; agenda of destroying ACA; regime change in Iran, etc.

How many American businesses has he destroyed with his tariffs.
How many Americans have lost their health insurance due to Senate failing to pay for subsidies; Trump is threatening to veto.
How many American soldiers will die in Iran? How many civilians?

In his SOTU, he falsely claimed that their is a revival in this country.
Actually, the reverse is true.
To quote from Shakespeare:

GLOUCESTER
Name not religion, for thou lov'st the flesh,
And ne'er throughout the year to church thou goes
Except it be to pray against thy foes.
--Shakespeare, 1 Henry VI 1.1.41-43

Checklist:
Item 1: Glibness/superficial charm
Item 2: Grandiose sense of self-worth
Item 3: Need for stimulation/proneness to boredom
Item 4: Pathological lying
Item 5: Conning/manipulative
Item 6: Lack of remorse or guilt
Item 7: Shallow affect
Item 8: Callous/lack of empathy
Item 9: Parasitic lifestyle
Item 10: Poor behavioral controls
Item 11: Promiscuous sexual behavior
Item 12: Early behavior problems
Item 13: Lack of realistic, long-term goals
Item 14: Impulsivity
Item 15: Irresponsibility
Item 16: Failure to accept responsibility for own actions
Item 17: Many short-term marital relationships
Item 18: Juvenile delinquency
Item 19: Revocation of conditional release
Item 20: Criminal versatility

Sun Mar 1, 2026, 11:25 PM

I prefer “couldn’t care less” because it makes more sense if you hadn’t heard the idiom before. I’m not a fan ant all, but I don’t make the rules in this language game. We can fight it, but I think the ship’s sailed on this idiom. Idioms are established by usage not strictly by their component words. I believe in American English both ways are somewhat equally common and have been for decades. Neither means it’s not possible to care less in common usage any more than “I love spaghetti” denotes a willingness to marry it.

I agree that I could care less is not descriptive and doesn't literally mean what it purports to mean. It is incorrect in that way. I don't use it myself, normally, and have noticed and disapproved when others do. I draw the line at correcting them, however. Their meaning is clear enough. In this case, as usual when discussing trump, I was being sarcastic and tongue in cheek. I was also angry. So when I put those words in quotation marks in the title it was meant to convey his attitude and how he would say it. But I can see that that may not have been clear.

EDIT

Symptoms of the disease first appear from 10 to 30 years after infection. Incipient GPI is usually manifested by neurasthenic difficulties, such as fatigue, headaches, insomnia, dizziness, etc. As the disease progresses, mental deterioration and personality changes occur. Typical symptoms include loss of social inhibitions, asocial behavior, gradual impairment of judgment, concentration and short-term memory difficulties, euphoria, mania, depression, or apathy. Subtle shivering, minor defects in speech and Argyll Robertson pupil may become noticeable.

Delusions, common as the illness progresses, tend to be poorly systematized and absurd. They can be grandiose, melancholic, or paranoid. These delusions include ideas of great wealth, immortality, thousands of lovers, unfathomable power, apocalypsis, nihilism, self-guilt, self-blame, or bizarre hypochondriacal complaints. Later, the patient experiences dysarthria, intention tremors, hyperreflexia, myoclonic jerks, confusion, seizures and severe muscular deterioration. Eventually, the paretic dies bedridden, cachectic and completely disoriented, frequently in a state of status epilepticus.
