Israel has now launched an all out war on Lebanon and Lindsay Graham is even suggesting that the US should participate to avenge the marine barracks bombing in 1983 in which 241 marines were killed. And now they are talking about ground troops in Iran. It doesn't look like there's going to be an off-ramp to this man made catastrophe.

Having goddess worship does not ensure a safe, egalitarian environment for women.

Christianity insists that, as a monotheistic religion, it does not worship Mary, mother of Jesus, as a goddess. Yet, she is depicted as the Queen of Heaven who miraculously mated with God to produce a divine son, and remained a perpetual virgin capable of intercession with her divine son on behalf of human beings. Her obedience to God, and to the divine purpose of childbirth are held in high esteem as examples of virtuous behavior for women. So having a "nearly divine" woman in Christianity still produced patriarchal societies.

Aa a woman, I am fully in support of equal rights. As an American and a Dem, I fully support the right of religious freedom to follow one's beliefs, or to have none. But, as someone who minored in anthropology, I also know that goddess worship is not always beneficial to women and society.

Israel is using its military to push further into Lebanon and take more of their land. I've read that Lebanon now has a better government that wants to rebuild the country instead of fighting Israel, but Netanyahu never misses an opportunity to push his violence instead of negotiating a peace deal. Israel has also being invading Syria and taking land there even though the new Syrian government has not attacked them and has said they have no interest in doing so. Netanyahu is greedy to take all the land surrounding Israel he can get away with. And now with the US fighting his war on Iran for him, he's free to pursue land grabs elsewhere.
