This guy is an idiot and his reasons for hating Catholics is more about evangelicals teaching that it's a cult.

I ripe on Catholics, especially as a survivor of SA, that they spent decades and decades hiding the SA of children by priests and some layman as a church policy and still try to this day by fighting mandatory reporting laws.

No sexual abuse in our parrish that I was aware of but lots of beatings and humiliations took place. I have been in therapy for years because of it.

I don't go to church anymore, but I still believe in a lot of the teachings. I don't blame God or the faith, for what happened, just the twisted individuals who committed the wrong doing and those who covered for them.

Idolatry, the Pope, the original Latin Mass, Saints, all of it. Can't tell you how many times I heard this hate growing up as a Catholic kid.

I have plenty of problems with The Church but I despise this bigotry of Catholics or any other faith.

But from other so-called Christians? It's absolutely obscene.

Fri Mar 13, 2026, 03:21 PM
Mar 13

Bigotry had a large role in the movie, from a great many angles and perspectives.

One of the main disputes in the movie was too many Catholics coming to New York and competing for resources. The "Nativist" party descriptions of Catholic immigrants are nearly identical to what is said today in the immigration space. Humans have short memories when they want to, and every few generations we like to reaffirm it.

FWIW - I think our country is starting to resemble 1970's and 1980's Belfast. Still, even my Hibernian brothers and sisters mostly got their acts together. Now it's a tax haven for American businesses. The world is a funny place.

I am a proud Catholic.
The republican/conservative movement has NEVER swayed me.
I have always seen them for what they are.
I have always held them in contempt as being just like the Pharisees whom Jesus detested and railed against.
So many are self-righteous, holier-than-thou, hypocritical, blind guides who are all bluster and pretense.
Their purpose is veiled but it cannot be hidden -- judgment, power, control, division, dominance...
never truth, humility, compassion, mercy, grace, or love which are the things most preached about by Jesus.

"You will know them by their fruits." -- Matthew 7:16

"They bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders;
but they themselves will not move them with their finger.
They do all their deeds to be seen by men.
BUT woe to you, scribes and Pharisees (and republicans), hypocrites!
They love the place of honor at feasts and the best seats in the synagogues.
Because you shut the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither enter yourselves,
nor allow those who would enter to go in.
You traverse sea and land to make a single proselyte, and when he becomes a proselyte,
you make him twice as much a child of hell as yourselves.
Blind guides
You tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law,
justice and mercy and faith
Blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel!
You cleanse the outside of the cup and of the plate, but inside they are full of extortion and rapacity.
You are like white-washed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within they are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness. So you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but within you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
You are sons of those who murdered the prophets."
(excerpts from Matthew 23:4-31)

...that has been constructed by these maniacs (EWTN, Relevant Radio, Ave Maria Radio/Ave Maria anything, as well as numerous regional and local media groups--e.g. St Michael Broadcasting in MN). EWTN's "news" show, The World Over, is often even worse than Fox News when it comes to issues of fairness, accuracy, and guest balance. Raymond Arroyo, anchorman for The World Over, apparently has a Rolodex a mile wide and an inch deep when it comes to his favored guests. The show often features the same three radtrad "experts", day after life-sucking day.

Every retrograde Church official, no matter how marginal, always gets the red-carpet treatment at EWTN. And the perpetually smug Raymond Arroyo can always be counted on to give them an obsequious, fawning interview lacking even a scintilla of critical journalistic competence.

The ONLY stories that are acceptable to "highlight" are ones where a certain demographic, or group is "leaving the Democratic Party".

Front page news in this Orwellian shitshow are ONLY;

"Are Jews Leaving the Democrat (sic) Party?"

"Have Dems lost young black and Hispanic males?"

"Soccer Mom's leaving the Democrat(sic) Party"

"How Dems lost white women"

If the story is unfavorable to Retrumplicans, it must be phrased as:

"Polls show Democrats still unpopular with Catholic Voters, even though Retrumplican rhetoric can be "perceived" by some as anti-catholic."

They're just less inclined to disguise the sentiment these days.

Not every Pope was well liked by the American public nor was every Evangelical leader but Catholics and other mainline protestant denominations never tried to ban other denominations from practicing their faith.

This is the Lenten season for Catholics and Orthodox Christians. Evangelicals make up approximately 20% of the US population but extremists like Pete Hegseth's pastor and Trump's child raping faith advisor Robert Morris hate the current Pope and the previous Pope for their messages based in Christ's love which contradict the white supremacist hate they preach.

if it weren't for traditional protestants, there wouldn't be these crackpots who twist the Bible and the Book of Revelation based on whacko nonsense by a Scotsman who came up with these notions after he fell off a horse and hit his head. If it weren't for John Nelson Darby's beliefs about things that aren't in the Bible (the Rapture) or made up interpretations of apocalyptic literature (the Book of Revelation), there wouldn't be the charismatic and Pentecostal groups that have infested Christianity over the past two centuries. If it weren't for crackpots like Rousas J. Rushdoony, who further misinterpreted the Bible for political ends, Doug Wilson wouldn't be around to pollute public discourse.

Wilson is a psychopath, just like his idol Rushdoony.
