The ex-GOP strategist suggested that more investigation could come from lawmakers. And as Republicans approach midterms and Democrats hope to take back the majority, Trump might have another problem on his hands.
"A Democratic House and Senate wont just vote on articles of impeachment," Wilson wrote. "Theyll open the books. Theyll drag the secrets into the light. Theyll subpoena documents, bank records, and communications. Theyll put your allies, your bagmen, your enablers, and yes, your crapulous, scumbag low-tier crypto criminal family members, on the hot seat."
"And it wont just be you," Wilson wrote. "The tech-bro billionaire class that decided, in a fit of adolescent contrarianism and naked self-interest, to hitch their wagons to your movement? Theyre next in line. Lets see how Boy Elon does under the hot lights for 8 hours a day for two weeks."
Even Elon Musk, or others who have funded Trump, could have to face justice, Wilson explained.
"Theyve been very comfortable lavishing you with swag and praise, funding, amplifying, and cheering on the chaos, convinced that they were too rich, too smart, too insulated to ever face real consequences," Wilson added. "Congressional oversight is about to disabuse them of that notion. Subpoenas dont care about your net worth. Hearings dont care about your follower count. Under oath is a very different environment than a podcast or a tweet. Theyre about to find out."

(113,771 posts)What's a Klieg light, you ask?
Film
The carbon-arc source was so bright that it allowed film directors to shoot daytime scenes at night. The intense light produced by the light led to some actors developing an eye inflammation referred to as "Klieg eye".[

(22,948 posts)Yeah, a long shot. I know. And it has nothing to do with whether it "should" happen. Of course it should. So, being the kind of guy who never counts chickens before they hatch, I won't, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to see that smug, arrogant, frog-faced drugged freak of nature squirm, for DAYS.

Let's hope when Dems take back congress, one of the representatives hires Wilson as an aide, who will provide pointed questions to the committee!

(22,948 posts)...it WILL BECOME Trump's WORST nightmare. I think a third impeachment is a "given," but I agree with Wilson. I can't "PREDICT" what kind of success Democrats will have in the Midterms. But IF THEY HAVE THE POWER to impeach AND just open ALL the windows and let the fresh air in, Trump will collapse mentally. Remember his glaring during the televised NYC trials? Expect much worse, because he is now far less stable.
I know that "PRISON" will always top the wish list, but I just don't see it happening, for a number of reasons.
Keeping Trump on edge and playing defense and too consumed with panic to enjoy building his ballroom?
Yeah. I can see that happening, easily, with enough Dems in Congress.

(22,948 posts)And the key goes back to something I learned in my old sales training days, from maybe THE master salesman of them all. He was one of the first sales professionals to introduce a very simple but also very formal written goals program. Get it down on paper, commit to it, make it a contract with yourself.
And the key to is is when you are done, at the bottom of the page, you write "THIS OR SOMETHING BETTER" and then sign it.
Because goals and priorities will often change to meet the circumstances encountered in their pursuit. It's a stoic way of saying "If life gives you lemons, make lemonade."
And we agree on one point that I've been making on DU...you're absolutely right, he KNOWS impeachment is an inevitability, but IN HIS MIND, he's thinking "Mitch got me off twice...so will Thune if it comes to that." Now, maybe he's right on that, maybe he's wrong.
But as I posted here yesterday, think back to his televised trial in NYC. Remember that anger, the glaring, the need to bring his bootlickers with him in a show of solifarity?
My preference would be 1). Prison, 2). Impeachment AND Removal, and 3). Make him lose his mind for the last two years of his presidency.
And I'll GLADLY take #3 regardless of how much I'd love the hell out of the first two.

(2,712 posts)The DNC refuses to see this. They keep sending me bullshit emails talking about other issues. The CORE ISSUE IS FAIRNESS. I don't know what it takes to get the DNC to understand this.
And pollsters are not helping. They never really address the core issues of economic fairness, the disappearance of the middle class, and the privileges of the well-connected. They talk about inflation and "affordability", but those are just symptoms. The core issue is a corrupt, unfair system.
Take the Epstein thing, for example. Most of the media and pollsters treat this as a titillating sex story. Yes, we are all really angry that people have gotten away with exploiting and raping children for decades. That is terrible, but the core issue is that the rich and powerful are above the law. That MFer Garland kept saying "nobody is above the law", but we all know that is complete bullshit. We can see that there is a whole class of people that think they are untouchable. Yet, the DNC just ignores that.
