"Not passing the Save Act could result in Republican voters sitting out the election in November".

Senate GOP plows forward on SAVE America Act amid pressure from right

The Senate is planning to debate and vote on the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, called the SAVE America Act, through this weekend as Senate conservatives warn that a failure to make significant progress on President Trump’s No. 1 legislative priority could result in Republican voters sitting out the election in November.

The Senate is expected to vote Saturday on an amendment sponsored by Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), a staunch Trump ally, to bar transgender athletes from participating in women’s sports.

Then the Senate will pivot to vote Sunday on a motion to advance the nomination of Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) to serve as secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, which would set up a final confirmation vote for Mullin on Monday.

The Senate will then move back to debating the SAVE America Act, which conservatives want to keep on the floor for weeks longer.

The political party of corruption and death. If they don't destroy life by rejecting climate change, you may lose your home to medical debt, they can put you in a detention camp, or they'll just bomb you where you live...they're a worldwide disease.

Anyone so brainless as to vote for Trump has clearly demonstrated an inability to make rational decisions.

Why so many people want voter ID is beyond me. Americans are fucking so stupid. It's just incredible.

But my take-aways and questions are this:

1. Does it apply to voters already registered? A lot of the act deals with how voters are registered.

2. This seems to set a different set of rules for federal elections vs. State and local elections. States can overcome this by adopting similar rules for registering voters in the state. I assume if states refuse to do this, this law would force everyone in that state to re-register to vote for Federal elections.

3. This seems to require an real ID or passport to be presented when you vote. It does call out that there are no changes if a state already requires this. Michigan requires a photo ID but I don't believe it's a real ID (what you need now to get on a plane).

5. State have to submit to homeland security to have registered voters validated. This will be an absolute shit show for blue states.

This is definitely unconstitutional since states have control over their elections. And even the current court has refused to get involved in state voter laws. But this court has no integrity and is probably going to figure out how to make this stick.

So I hope our people stick to their stated intent to filibuster the hell out if this.

Would registered voters be required to reregister with proper documentation to vote?
There’s no requirement in the bill for all registered voters to reregister. However, if a voter did need to reregister for other reasons, such as moving or changing their name, they would have to show documentation proving their citizenship. “Under any method of voter registration in a State, the State shall not accept and process an application to register to vote in an election for Federal office unless the applicant presents documentary proof of United States citizenship with the application,” the legislation says.

whether or not the SAVE Act is passed.

Many of them will find it challenging to have both passport/birth certificate and state-issued documents (drivers licenses).
