I'm thinking that is is incumbent on 'ground crews' (and their little trolleys) to stay well clear of any aircraft that is even partially in motion. But - suppose it's only fair (and prudent) to wait and find out ...

EDIT: Oh my God! It was a fire engine! And injured are reported to be firemen.
Still - I suppose the principle remains the same ... Those on the ground .. Stay out of the way of moving planes! And it doesn't look like this was any little 'love tap'. Tore the hell out of the nose of that plane!

the plane was carrying a group of Orthodox Jews from Montreal to NY. A strange coincidence?

to let firefighting cross the runway to attend to a United Airlines plane that had reported suspicious vapor. Nothing to suggest anything
but human error in a profession where people are consistently and foolishly pushed to their limits.

The ATC was telling the fire truck Stop!! Multiple times. I guess we will find out eventually.

No… no…no. my point was that in this time of unrest involving people of the Jewish religion, including yours truly, it is not a great thing that this plane held a great many orthodox Jews.

This fact was mentioned in the breaking news report, and I believe this is something worth mentioning, given the amount of paranoia, some of it legitimately conceived, existing in this world today.

It appears to be rather obvious that the controller just fucked up, for lack of a better description.
