https://www.france24.com/en/france-confirms-oil-crisis-says-30-40-gulf-energy-infrastructure-destroyedFrance's Finance Minister Roland Lescure revealed on Wednesday that between 30 and 40 per cent of Gulf refining capacity has been damaged or destroyed by Iran's retaliatory strikes, leaving a shortage of 11 million barrels a day on global oil markets. Lescure warned it could take up to three years to restore damaged facilities, and several months to restart those that were urgently shut down.

(4,117 posts)Red rags hanging on sticks in front of gas stations in the 70s, youd think this would be solved by now. But its hard to counter people who constantly put their money and resources thwarting change. The WH had solar panels until Reagan took them off. The fossil fuel industry has mucked up the Global Warming/Climate Change discussion at every level.
If change is going to happen it will have to be made at the lowest levels because all the upper decision makers are hopelessly contaminated. I leased an EV last September and just had solar installed on my house. I encourage anyone who wants change to take their own steps to ween themselves off of fossil fuels.

(59,540 posts)I have a hybrid and live in a walking town. (Didn't get an EV because I live in an apartment and couldn't charge it at home.) So if I fill my 7 gallon tank once a month, it's a lot. The auto gas prices don't do much to me. I can't imagine having one of those asinine trucks and having to drive to get everything you need.
We still do use oil and gas for heat for the building, which cost is horrifying. The roof just doesn't have enough surface area to make much of a dent in our heating costs.

So now much of the land-based military is, in essence, fighting the war while working remotely, with the exception of fighter pilots
and crews operating and maintaining warplanes and conducting strikes.......
Many of the 13 military bases in the region used by American troops are all but uninhabitable, with the ones in Kuwait, which is next door to Iran, suffering perhaps the most damage. Six U.S. service members were killed in a strike on Port Shuaiba that destroyed an Army tactical operations center. Iranian drones and missiles also targeted Ali Al Salem Air Base, damaging aircraft structures and injuring personnel, and Camp Buehring, damaging maintenance and fuel facilities......
The lack of better planning, some military officials said, also reflects a miscalculation on the part of the administration about how Iran would respond. The Trump administration did not reduce staffing at American embassies and other facilities in the region before the war started, or order departures for nonessential government employees and family members. Nor did the State Department warn Americans to steer clear of the region until after the war began.
The Gulf energy infrastructure is not the only things destroyed
