We were told that we could go to other churches and other religious services, but we couldn't "participate" in their services. The one thing that I recall from going to my friends' churches was that their Protestant services involved a lot more Bible-reading, but we Catholics had better songs. Nowadays it's the opposite ... the Catholics are reading more Bible passages but the Protestants have better songs.
