Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWe here in California will select our next Governor. Not folks in D.C. or N.Y. or the internet or anywhere else...
Just as you all will select your own representatives. Looking forward to getting my ballot in the mail and being a part of making the correct choice for California - not anywhere else.

(3,979 posts)Or is that off-limits? Only Californians can opine on California elections?
I mean, you surely are not concerned that a swath of D.C. or N.Y. or the internet people are going to try to vote in CA, are you?
So just what point are you making here?

(46 posts)With that I see a lot of posts here and to be fair, in liberal CA forms on Nextdoor, where people have been overly worried about the Governor race.
I would be shocked if two Repukes make it through.
With the latest events it is likely that Steyer gets one spot. Now we need to get one more Dem through.
Because there is no way in hell a Repub is winning CA this year sans MASSIVE fraud.

(1,061 posts)And from what I have read I believe the women. There is a little over a month left so maybe something will come out to change my mind.
Yes the timing sucks but if you have ever been or had a loved one who was a victim of SA you recognize certain patterns of grooming. Unfortunately I saw those patterns in the women's statements.
I was a supporter and was voting for Salwell. This has left heartbroken.

(68 posts)I think this sounds like some swift boat stuff. I read the CNN article and I could and would not vote for him after this.
I think the allegations are true. I also think it's another dem that is behind it.
Lifeafter70
(1,061 posts)Not sure about the timing. Maybe it is due to them finding out that they had similar experiences just recently.
We have four voters in my household, I'm the only female. We were all voting for him.
I'm not at home right now cause I'm caring for my son who is hospice in Reno area.
It will be an interesting conversation when I return home.

(1,061 posts)We are grateful that gamma knife radiation gave us three years. His cancer is slow growing so if luck holds out we might get another year.
The Repubs would have been better letting is wait until August or September.
Steyer has the money, Porter being in the House should have some insight.
I was soft on both of them prior to these events. Now I am disgusted by both. Hopefully the truth will come out.

(61,007 posts)to be lies coordinated by Republicans who hated Kerry since he spoke out on the war. Note attacking him for speaking out would have been fair, but they knew that would not hurt him.
Here, you say that it is likely true. I agree and think we will find that he will claim it was consensual.

PeaceWave
(3,507 posts)As for his credentials, yes, they're top notch. He'll receive strong consideration from multiple members of my family, both in Northern and Southern California. The fact that he could become the first California Governor of Latin American descent in 150 years would obviously be special, not just for my family but for so many across the state - particularly given what the current President is attempting to do to Latin Americans in this country.

(2,697 posts)and I had a lot to say about Governor's running in other states. For example, Mamdani, Shapiro, Cooper....
It may be our governor, but it doesn't hurt to hear input from citizens of other states because ultimately, we have the final say. I welcome as much information as possible and it's up to us to decide what to believe and what to utilize in our decision making.
Kind of like a contestant on the "Price is Right" game show. The audience is yelling out their opinions and through all of the pandemonium, the contestant on stage makes the final decision, right or wrong, they have to live with their decision.

(17,630 posts)I've often said that if you're not a Texan, you don't fully understand Texas politics. We are a unique situation. So, I'll gladly give you the same respect for California.
In Texas, though, I'm not sure the "we" gives me any comfort because we still have more than our share of asshole MAGA's.
