Just want to say, i never dreamed how bad our country could become. I've NEVER thought

Our democracy could be swallowed by our so called defenders like it has. Pretty fucking scary when ONE person is protected by our COMPLETE judicial system, military system, congressional system. I never ever thought our DOJ had power like completely undoing all charges against the Jan 6 MONSTERS. This fucker had judges perfectly in the right places to do what they are doing. I now see how dangerous a beautiful country can be with the ungodly type fuckers running it.

Most of what these pigs from hell are doing now, echoes some conversation or other I had with the right-wing lunatics down there - some 30+ years ago.

(being white and clean-cut, they automatically assume you're on the same page)

The hankering for monstrosities was very much already there; all they needed, was the billionaires to jump on board - and voilà.

About fifty years ago, my husband and I finished studying at Southern Illinois University and found jobs in small towns in Southern Illinois. I remember some of the residents mentioning that there had been some Black residents, but they were gone now; they refused to tell why they were gone. Some teachers praised the head Science Teacher who had just retired; they mentioned that he had taught Creation Science. I volunteered on the local Volunteer Ambulance Squad. These people were better than most residents of that town. After a traffic accident (not during my shift), some of these ambulance volunteers spoke sympathetically about an accident that had left a Black family badly injured. They reported sadly that the Black family was obviously terrified when the ambulance crew first arrived, but gradually relaxed. They said the Black family later mentioned that they had been very scared that an ambulance crew in that area might be very mean to them, and thanked the ambulance crew for being nice to them. Oh, and another man expressed the belief that Adolph Hitler had actually been a very fine man, and the Nazis actually were very fine people who just understood the superiority of "white" people.

Sadly.
After he loses the midterms he will get way crazy. If we win the house and senate it will be a non-stop battle between the legislature and dump and unfortunately dump can take immediate action while the house and senate are slower and rely on the courts to enforce them. I think it will take about a year or so to impeach him finally.
Just my 2 cents.

They will NOT listen to any congressional law passed. everything will go to the courts. they will be unable to keep up and we will have two years of HELL, or maybe even something worse. Look, this Supreme court could rule NOW on that citizenship, but they give TSF a victory for 4 months just STALLING. TSF will push until something breaks and then Martial law and who knows what after that point is reached.

He's still looking at sentencing for thirty-four felony convictions.

He will have visiting hours and a limited amount of phone time every week. I doubt he will be permitted any kind of personal electronic devices, much less telecom devices. Convicts pay for their phone usage at exorbitant rates. How many real reporters will be interested in interviewing him under those conditions ? He'll be old and irrelevant as any has-been can be. I'm looking forward to seeing him without his poofed-up hair and Rustoleum spray coating -- to say nothing of his magic lifts.

Our Founding Fathers served in the legislature for a short period and then went home to live with the laws that they passed, same as everyone else!

He would steal food for the prisoners until he was caught by a neighbor stealing an apple pie cooling on her window rack, and his mother punished him for it. Anyway his experiences frightened me and I asked him if it would happen here. He said he didn't think so because of the lessons learned of Nazi Germany. I don't think he thought that would be used as a template. He'd be brokenhearted I he was alive to see this.

The Patriot Act put an enormous amount of personal information about the average American in the fingertips of any American President. Apparently, no one bothered to consider how that scenario might play out were the U.S. ever to have the wrong kind of President. Have we seen some very bad things happen under Trump? Absolutely. Could it get worse with the power at his disposal? Something like wholesale roundups of those deemed political enemies? Again, absolutely.

I have been watching this shit show since then.

After Bill Clinton stood up in the debate and said "it's the economy, stupid", I foolishly thought that maybe the pendulum had begun to permanently swing our way. Nope. Even after Clinton provided a surplus in his last couple of years, the "salt of the earth" in my country decided that the shrub was a better choice than Al, because "he seems like the kind of guy I'd like to sit down and have a beer with". Brilliant system for deciding who to run your government, that.

Two lied-into wars and one global near economic meltdown later (hey, took him a whole 8 years to accomplish that feat) I thought once again, "hey, we elected a black guy, how cool is that?" God I was a naive little shit.

8 years later, when despite the party of "NO"'s obstructionism, I thought things were on an upward swing. Wrong again poopsie. tsf I was a disaster, and that I thought, surely was about rock bottom. Once Biden was dealing with the sack of shit he was left to hold, I hoped he'd be the transitional president he alluded to running for 2020. Groom an obvious choice, hand over the reins, preserve what we'd won. Doh!

I hate those "salt of the earth" fucks, did I mention that? They chose to put him in office a second time, and here we are.

Blame McConnell for the judges, that was his doing specifically. tsf isn't smart enough for that, he's just the recipient of the republican parties' manipulations for all of my adult, politically aware, life.

But make no mistake, tsf deserves the lion's share of the blame for what's gone down. He's a despicable, honorless, useful idiot.

Can we still win? I dunno. I'm not giving up yet though. I'll borrow one of their useless aphorisms.

"Might have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong side"

After the constitutional convention in 1778 Franklin was asked what kind of government America has, his reply:

Benjamin Franklin's famous quote, "A republic, if you can keep it," reflects his concerns about the ongoing effort required to maintain democracy and self-governance. This statement was made during the Constitutional Convention in 1787, where Franklin was asked about the nature of the government created by the delegates. He emphasized that a republic is not merely a promise but a condition that requires active participation and commitment from the people to ensure its stability and effectiveness. Franklin's perspective underscores the importance of civic engagement and the moral character of citizens in sustaining democratic principles.
