(2,931 posts)Hathaway, the Dem "centerist" who is the big loser here says, I still believe the broader electorate in NJ-11 is looking for balanced, pragmatic leadership, not the kind of far-left policies embraced by Ms. Mejia. That conversation is not over,
When he says "balanced and pragmatic", the translation is "not bold ideas, and no meaningful opposition to the fascism that has swallowed the GOP whole.
America isn't buying that bag of shit anymore. We tried that for 40 years and all it got us was a long slide into fascism through GHWBush, WBush, and Trump. She won by huge numbers, not because she is a "socialist", but because she is NOT a parrot, just repeating what everybody in her party has said through this 40-year ideal.
The middle class is being destroyed, and people like Hathaway seem completely oblivious to that. People respond to candidates that aren't obsessed with being junior Republicans. If people want RW politics and a world run by billionaires, why vote for "centerist" Dems whey you can have the real article by voting Republican?
They were baffled when AOC won. They were baffled when Mamdani won. And now they are baffled when Meija won by huge numbers. At some point, you would think maybe they would question their own doctrine that has not been working for decades.
