Troops not being fed

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2026/04/16/iran-war-mail-packages-middle-east/89609308007/

Dan F. was alarmed when his daughter, a Marine aboard the USS Tripoli, a warship deployed to fight the Iran war, sent him a photo of a meal served on the ship. A lunch tray, two-thirds empty, carried one small scoop of shredded meat and a single folded tortilla.

A picture of a mid-April dinner on the USS Abraham Lincoln, shared by a service member with his family, was similarly unappetizing – a small handful of boiled carrots, a dry meat patty and a gray slab of processed meat.
--------
In message exchanges with him that she shared with USA TODAY, the sailor said service members on the ship eat when they can, and they divvy up food evenly when one person gets more than the others.

Supplies "are going to get really low," and the crew doesn't anticipate any port visits until the ship returns from its mission, he wrote in a message on March 11.

That procurement for the troops were not made when they were ordered to the ME.

Those in charge are so incompetent. Someone should inform the troops of kegsbreath's $million$ spent of lobster and shellfish and lavish eats.

or they completely failed to plan and procure enough supplies.

Damn, the US military used to be experts at getting supplies where they need to go accurately and quickly. That's the secret to how our country wins wars. Or it used to be before MAGA got rid of "fraud, waste, and abuse" like super geniuses.

Good thing shipping costs and groceries are super cheap for families to send care packages. Oh wait....

"let them eat war, that's how to ration the poor, there's an urgent need to feed"

That tells me that not only has the U.S. Navy fleet headquarters in Bahrain is no longer providing sustainment- they must be operating on hi tempo without regular replenishment at sea. You got a lot of ships to care for, Bahrain is out, so reproving either at sea while underway or whatever quick port call can be squeezed in in Israel (Red sea), Crete (med) or Oman.

Yep- Trump needs to declare victory and get them all out of there.

I have never, ever heard of, let alone experience, a supply fubar of this magnitude in all of my 20 years of naval service.

You’re correct, Bahrain must have been damaged quite a bit more than publicly acknowledged for replenishment to be this effed up. I can’t see supply chain management being gutted so thoroughly to blame Kegseth.

Then again, maybe he ordered people to stop planning backup plans because supply isn’t really part of warfighting?
(Yes, yes… you and I know it is THE most important part of warfare, but if Kegseth thinks soft power is useless then he is probably stupid enough to disregard supply chains, too…)

U.S. troops were the best fed of all the combatants. When German troops captured an American supply depot during the Battle of the Bulge, the Germans couldn't believe how well the U.S. was feeding it's troops.
