The Felon's IRS is a Horror Show (Part II)

Original "The Felon's IRS is a Horror Show"
https://www.democraticunderground.com/100221115023

So, I have been using FreeTaxUSA since 2018. I've NEVER had a problem e-filing through the program. A friend also uses it. No problems.

As part of the verification process before e-filing, you put in your last year's AGI.

Looked it up. Entered. All good.

An hour later, I get an email that my filing was rejected because the AGI didn't match.

So, I think, gee, perhaps the problem I had with 2024 (original horror show) somehow affected the AGI on record. It didn't make sense that it would because it was related to tax subsidy calculation, but WTF, I log into the IRS and check my 2024 transcript. AGI they have on record is what I entered. So, I try again. Another rejection. Called my friend who uses FreeTaxUSA, she had no problem e-filing.

I gave it another shot. Rejected. Printed, signed, packaged return up with rejection email (as instructed by FreeTaxUSA to show that I DID attempt to file 4/15 so I don't get dinged for late filing). Paid to send certified mail with return receipt because I don't trust whatever "new" processes they have in place.

Not really a big deal but when the little shit doesn't work, you can bet the big shit doesn't either.

1. I worked at an IRS center in the last year of the Reagan nightmare.

That place was so effed up, it was a wonder a refund ever got out of it. One day, I found a million-dollar check on the floor, under a rack of waiting tax returns. Those were supposed to have been removed at the envelope-opening stage, coded, and sent to the payment processing unit. But in my unit, which marked up returns for data entry, we found literally hundreds of checks that had been missed at the initial point. It was a zoo, staffed with employees who probably should have been sweeping office floors or flipping burgers.

3. Running a government agency like it is a circus or a playpen for some "friend of the president"

is going to make working there very unpleasant. Favoritism and skulduggery will run rampant. Even conscientious professionals will not feel motivated to do a good job.

(R)epuglicons proving that government doesn't work.
