AIPAC says Im not Team America. Why? Because I want to spend the $400b to make college & trade schools free and childcare $10 day. Not on the Trump/Netanyahu alliance for an illegal, immoral war in Iran.
AIPAC
No, @RoKhanna
, you are Team Ro.
Team America upholds our commitments, stands with allies and helps allies stop terrorists from killing civilians.
Aid to Israel isnt a handout. Its a strategic investment that yields a huge return for Americas interests, security, and economy.

(5,868 posts)needs to become as toxic to Democratic candidates as accepting money from the NRA. No votes for AIPAC shills.

(54,666 posts)And this chart ends 2 or so years ago, so you can add tens of billions of USD MORE to the money figures for Israel, plus Israel is a staggeringly small nation compared to the others on the chart, so the per capita amounts are truly off the charts:

(4,763 posts)is what Trump and company are saying about the billion dollars a day we are spending in Iran, and the 1.5 trillion dollars they want to add to the Pentagon budget.
AIPAC is up to no good...

(93,765 posts)The reason we don't have money for other things is becsuse many people don't support it. I mean mainly the Republicans.
Are Republicans going to suddenly support govt funding for health care. education, and other things just because we stop any money to Israel ?
Oppose any money to Israel all you want but stop blaming it for other things.
We fund Saudi Arabia and UAE and Pakistan and a bunch of other shit that is using it on wars in Sudan, Yemen, Afghanistan etc and nobody gives a shit.

(10,031 posts)Ro Khanna didnt even blame them for it so I'm not sure why you are trying to argue against an argument no one made.

(10,031 posts)Yup, we sell arms to Israel. They pay for it by using money we gave them for that. $3.8 billion per year. They can use a small small part of it to buy arms from other countries. So technically you are correct, we sell arms to them but we give them the money to do so.

(93,765 posts)It's all arrangements done to support our defense industry.
And you seem to not care about other countries using this for wars in Sudan, Yemen. Afghanistan etc.

(10,031 posts)We gave 5.3 million to them in 2024. That's like one patriot missile. Israel? $3.8 billion per year and that is not including the supplemental aid we have given them in the last couple of years. Do you really think that 2.3 million in aid and 3.8 billion is the same? We are in no way funding Saudi Arabia's military to even a small degree while we are funding Israels to a major, major degree. In 2017 their entire military budget was about 20 billion. That means we were funding about 20%. Saudi Arabia? 70 billion. That makes lets see 5.3 million by divided by 70 billion =.08%. Quit conflating arms sales with funding, we may sell a lot of arms to S.A. but we hardly fund them at all where we send a huge amount of aid to Israel that they dont have to pay for. Huge difference.
