Hung Cao, the new acting Navy Secretary seems to believe there is lots of witchcraft in California.

Fer fuck sake. Yeah, sure. Why not.

CRACKPOT! Trump’s new acting Navy Secretary is a bona fide religious nutcase who believes "witches" are taking over California!
In a resurfaced interview, Hung Cao, the man Pete Hegseth just installed to lead the entire United States Navy, once ranted that Monterey, California has become a “very dark place with a lot of witchcraft” because the Wiccan community has supposedly “really taken over there.” Uhh... yeah, sure buddy...
He complained that “Lover’s Point” used to be called “Lovers of Christ Point” until “they took out the Christ,” then warned the same thing could spread to Virginia (where he lives) and called for mobilizing “Christians across the nation.”
This is who is now in charge of the U.S. Navy in 2026 during a war.

Dear Witches of Monterey,

Great job!

Any chance I can come for a long visit this summer?

Sincerely,

Pretty sure the witches and wizards are taking over the Navy too... JK. How did he get to rank of Captain with those beliefs though?

Did a quick search and according to DuckAI he served as a captain and specialized in explosive ordnance disposal and salvage diving. He participated in operational deployments in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Somalia before retiring in 2021.

While serving as a Navy diver, Hung Cao suffered a serious diving-related incident that caused oxygen deprivation and brain injury; he has spoken publicly about experiencing permanent effects from that injury.

Could be just a coincidence or might explain strange thinking. He could have thought that way before, who knows? I only did a very shallow search. Have not looked for his public statement on the injury.

When the city of Pacific Grove incorporated in 1889, they dropped the Jesus., and became known as Lovers Point.

Them witches have been causing mayhem for a hundred and forty years!

And he's right, we had to beat off THOUSANDS of witches who crashed the ceremony!!

Of course some of us were a little buzzed at the time, so we may have been halucinating.

OH FOR FUCKS SAKE!!
People who believe in "witches" are fucking morons.

It was a beautiful wedding and everyone there had a wonderful time. Except, of course, the non-existant "witches".
This guy is an ignorant, stupid ASSHOLE. So I guess he fits right in with the Dotard administration.

From Northern Virginia. He had some pretty extreme views, which is why he lost. Now he gets a platform to force those views on the rest of us.

Yay. Not.

I'm a lot more worried that a guy with a diagnosed TBI, who believes in imaginary magic enemies, is running our Navy than I am about some nice folk who might be able to get me a Nimbus 2000.

Well, sure, if Hung Cao (like "cow"? really?) says so

At first I thought this was The Onion riffing on Biggus Dickus or something -- I mean, another thing that explains this is if the timeline is scripted by a Cosmic Terry Gilliam. Not saying I believe it, but if I were to theorize that such a being existed, I'd count this as additional evidence, put it in the big pile over there with the others, thanks, oh do mind the pointy bits.
