Why is there a problem with giving aid to our fellow...

Americans in dire straits (disaster areas) .But never a issue to give aid to foreign countries???

You see, if we dont pay country X to be our friend, well, they might cause problems for the big __________ industry and that would put America in peril! But if a few thousand (million, whatever) Americans are sick, hungry, homeless, it doesnt effect our national interests so no one gives a shit.
