There are guests of the hotel coming and going during the WHCD. It's in a huge ballroom though and access to it can be controlled. I believe it's on a different floor than the main hotel lobby.

I am normally a bit suspicious of any fluffy pseudoscience as it is antithetical to the real effort needed in areas outside the hard sciences.
