I certainly think there is a possibility that there was a systematic effort to "clear the field" of elements that might interfere with the hundreds of billions of dollars that the richest in our society are gathering. And where there are such vast sums of money involved, lives become expendable. There aren't many choir boys who become fabulously wealthy.

But being aware of the likelihood of a larger plot is not the same as having evidence of it. Of course, any such conspiracy would try to cover its tracks.
