A woman who built her own plane at 12 threatens to de-throne Albert Einstein as the greatest mind of all time - and she doesnt want to make billionaires richer.
32-year-old Sabrina Gonzalez Pasterski, built a plane when she was 12, was rejected from MIT, persuaded MIT to take her anyway, graduated top of her class in physics, and went on to study at Harvard.
But she rejects the Einstein moniker. She said: "When Harvard University called me 'the next Einstein', I expressed my rejection of that title, stating, 'I am just a grad student. I have so much to learn. I do not deserve the attention'". It comes during an alarming time for scientists, with a sinister kidnap conspiracy theory emerging over one who burned to death in a Tesla.
Pasterski is working on problems Einstein could not fully explain - but she has always been ahead of the curve. As a child she built a real aeroplane from scratch, learning engineering aerodynamics and physics.

(24,457 posts)The conversation around billionaires needs to change IMO. It's not about wealth to them, it's about power. They have too much power, and power is their goal. Their wealth is meaningless to them materially after a certain point, it's all about acquiring more power. They are plenty greedy, sure, but it's not greed for more stuff, it's greed for more power.
I'd be fine with $billionaires if they were prevented from having any outsized say over our political process, our laws, or our economy in general. Let them build castles with airplane runways all they want. But stay the hell away from the seats of power in our country. But the castles and airplane runways are not what they crave, they crave power, they crave control, and more is never enough.

That is an important and overlooked point.
It is not about greed so much as it is about exploitation and abuse. That becomes more clear every day. It is not about how much money a person has, but rather about how much power a person has over others.
a diagnosable hoarding disorder (which is also about control).
