Why Did Peter King Do Such A Reversal So Quick?...

He really came down hard on Boehner and his Party in general as well as saying no more money from donors in the area to the Repugs. Later today he completely changed his tune and was docile. Seems to me he was threatened with something that made him change. What do you think happened cause I don't buy his reversal.

relief packages on the floor today. Has nothing to do with being threatened. Boehner was the one who was threatened with being the guy responsible for a whole lot of bad PR for the party as well as becoming the reason for the party losing donations from a pretty wealthy area of the nation.

I have not read the bill yet however, according to the right, it is loaded up with pork, follow the money and see how much of it leads back to King. Pubs are not exactly known for actually being interested in helping people unless they can get something for themselves out of it.

I remember hearing something about one of the Koch brothers opposing the bill... made sense to me as I'm sure the ptb would love to grab real estate from the little people at fire sale prices..

His district includes a lot of areas with Sandy-related flooding damage. That's a lot of voters racking up bills trying to make their houses livable again who are none to happy at seeing relief funds being used as a football by the teabagger wing. If he makes a big show of raising hell, it shields him from accusations that he's playing games too.

It's his constituents who were affected by Sandy, so it's important to him. When it's something for the good of the country, fuggetaboutit if it doesn't concern his district.

they love him there-- he knows just how to play them.

Be that as it may, his district does have some of the worst damage in the area, and it's a lot of people's primary homes, not beach houses. Many still don't have electricity and they can't get permits to fix or tear down until there's a guarantee of FEMA money. Some are still living in their cars. The local FEMA office there was just on the news and it's empty until the damn bill is passed.

Why did he make up with Boner so fast? Come on-- it's all grand kabuki. He threw the tantrum to get it into the Congressional Record and give a great show to the locals. Now he's the hero who got Boner to turn around. But he's still the bastard who voted against Katrina aid while he was trying to close down mosques.

The other guy from Staten Island (Grimm?) I don't know much about, but his district got slammed even worse and there, too, are people in shelters until Federal money shows up.

Fucking scumbags all of them-- the Pentagon got more than it wanted at the expense of people living in their cars.
