higher on the hip with the shallowness of the pocket and be less likely to poke the much lower abdomen if using a front pocket or the butt if using a back pocket. It's probably functionally obsolete as car keys are disappearing in use, or because keys are usually carried in multiples, sometimes with mini discount/membership cards or elaborate key rings. But style lives on!

There were no wristwatches in the 1800s, so pocket watches popular in the 1800s.

13. It is a watch pocket. For those workers who wanted to have a time piece but were not wearing vests.

It predates the wrist watch.

Since everyone can always find a use for it, they still put them on some designs.

I may be delusional, but I swear I seem to remember something about horse handlers, or dealing with deliveries, having a hand in adding those pockets.

Is the first term I heard, - however in the late 60’s - early 70’s there were a handy place to keep dangerous drugs.

16. That video is AI slop from an individual or more likely a content farm in India, posting a new AI-generated

video almost once a day since last October.

Lots of similar AI-slop channels can be found all over YouTube, with AI narration of AI-researched-and-written scripts about what are likely AI-chosen subjects.

If you weed out the AI slop videos about watch pockets, you can find older videos created by humans on the same subjects.

In the last few years there's been a flood of AI slop channels like the one you posted, including @historyofsimplethings - that one posting nearly 3,000 videos in a little over 2 years, admitting in at least 1 but not all of its videos that it's using AI so the videos can have errors. That channel would definitely be from a content farm. No one at the content farm is likely to care about the subject of the videos. They're just looking for clickbait to generate income. And flooding YouTube with AI slop that steals views and income from human creatives.
