Trump has a better understanding of the Bible than Pope Leo, says conservative Christian pastor Robert Jeffress

President Donald Trump has a “better” understanding of the Bible’s lessons than Pope Leo, a conservative Christian pastor has claimed.

Pastor Robert Jeffress made the stunning remark on Fox News this weekend during a discussion about Thursday’s meeting between the first American Pope and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Tensions have flared in recent months after the Pope urged Catholics to pray for a peaceful resolution to the Iran war amid the U.S. president’s threats to “end” Iranian civilization - but he did not mention Trump by name. Trump then posted a series of angry messages on his Truth Social platform, calling the Pope “weak” on crime and accusing him of not understanding the threat posed by Iran’s nuclear weapons program.

According to Jeffress, one of Trump’s longtime backers in the evangelical community, the differing stances amount to Trump being more of a Christian leader than the head of the Catholic church. “The Pope is a good man, he’s sincere in his faith, but he’s sincerely wrong when it comes to Iran,” he told Fox News.

Jeffress looks like he got kicked in the head by horse. Maybe that's why he's so damn stupid.

I have come to believe that in years to come, Evangelical Protestants will rue the day that their leadership became raptured by Donald Trump’s John Trump.

Not only members in good standing but possible converts will look at the embracure between the guy in the White House and Evangelical Leadership and ask themselves”THIS is what you consider an upright, Godley, and decent man?” and turn away.

And for damn good reason.

in what I call a "closed system". They define themselves by their religion and reject everyone and everything else as "secular".

Trump is simply a conman. He learned a long time ago that embracing the Christian religion could be used as a means of pushing "Christian Nationalism" and thereby securing a loyal, highly motivated voting base in exchange for advancing their religious and cultural agenda.

"Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's"
There are two kinds of Christians, political Christians and Christians of faith.
Trump's Political Christians are the public face of Christianity in America today.

Church membership is also dropping in several denominations, fed by disillusionment be long-time and younger membership. The word about President What’s-his-name may not be coming from the pulpits, but it still seeps in from the internet and other sources.

It won't happen overnight, but eventually they will have a problem and have to start closing church's, scaling back, etc. Problem is, the current leaders in my view have the attitude of "I got mine". Let the next group of leaders deal with the problem, only, there isn't that much in the horizon. I honestly think at some point there will be a reckoning.
