NJ-07: American Medical Association PAC spending $150k to boost Shah (D)

Three of the four Democrats running for New Jersey’s 7th congressional district now have independent expenditure groups assisting their campaigns, with the American Medical Association’s political PAC beginning an ad buy today supporting Tina Shah.

AMA PAC filed a report this morning disclosing a $150,000 media buy supporting Shah, an ICU doctor. The PAC does not appear to have spent money on a New Jersey race before, but FEC reports show that it typically supports a handful of physicians, most of them Democrats, who run for Congress every election cycle.

The ad itself largely repeats messaging Shah has used on her own campaign (and put on her website’s red box): “In a hospital, every second matters – Dr. Tina Shah learned that in the ICU,” its narrator says.

Shah also has the support of 314 Action, a well-funded group that supports Democratic scientists and doctors who run for office, but 314 Action’s PAC has not yet spent on her behalf.
