Since 2016, there have now been four magnitude 6.0 or higher earthquakes to rattle the Lesser Antilles, and 30 since 1900.
The record is a magnitude 7.5 quake in October 1974.
I've never been in a quake. We have tornadoes where I live and so far I've managed to never be in one of those either. But boy do I fear and respect them!

(297,918 posts)Thats a myth.
Lets say we have some nice views but island life is no bed of roses and trickle down economics means were all on the road to deterioration in all spheres while the global and local thieves rob us all blind.
Hurricane Melissa last year destroyed vast sections of this island. Its hell for many folks in those parishes. Our roads are a mess.
Meanwhile, bananas are finally returning less than a month from the start of this years hurricane season.

The best news was that there was no tsunami threat.
A tsunami in the Caribbean Sea is a nightmare I dont want to think about.
